GIS stands for geographic information system. When used by local governments, GIS is a computer technology that combines geographic data - which includes both natural and man-made features of a specific surface area - and other information such as street names, zones, property values and demographics to generate visual maps and reports.
Any new building and any alteration that adds on to or changes the structure of an existing building must be approved by the City.
The City has published its fourth General Valuation Roll (GVR2023) since the promulgation of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act, 2004 (the Rates Act). Property Owners have a limited period within which to examine the roll, and if required, to submit an objection to such valuation.
Please note that the General Valuation Roll 2018 objection period officially closed on 6 April 2018 at 15:00.
Late objections will be treated as queries.
