CGIS has a wide range of internal and external clients e.g. staff members of the COJ departments, consultants, developers and even students.​​

• ​Internal clients use the GIS information mainly to support decision-making in implementing​ ​the vision of the City (LIDP).​
  

• Consultants and developers often use the GIS to assist in infrastructure and services​ planning.
  

• Students from the local universities and the technicon use the geographic data as one of the datasets for study areas pertaining to e.g. architecture or geography.
  

• Ratepayers are especially interested in their property/site information which gives an indication of the zoning, building li​ne restrictions, density, height, etc.
